Stralfors has today signed an agreement with Nolato regarding the takeover of AB Cerbo Göteborg in Gothenburg and Medigrafik A/S in Copenhagen (Vaerlöse), two printing businesses with close relationships to the pharmaceutical industry. The companies are part of the Cerbo Group, which was acquired by Nolato on 5 March 2007. AB Cerbo Göteborg and Medigrafik A/S are leading names in the field of printed packaging materials for the pharmaceutical industry. Together the two companies have aggregates sales of SEK 146 million a year and employ approximately 100 people.
The acquisition is another step in the Stralfors strategy of building up its strengths in niches such as gaming, pharmaceuticals and security printing in its Graphics Business Area. Stralfors already supplies packaging materials to a number of international drugs companies. As recently as March 2006 the company acquired Novo Nordisk’s in-house printing shop for pharmaceutical information in Denmark. BA Graphics is already one of the leading names in printing for the European gaming industry.
“It is part of our strategy to become a significant player in that segment of the market known as ‘printed secondary packaging material’ – in other words, cartons, leaflets, booklets and labels for the pharmaceutical industry,” says Ulf Sköld, President of BA Graphics. “Cerbo’s printing operations are among the largest in this segment in the Nordic countries. Our acquisition of the units in Gothenburg and Copenhagen (Vaerlöse) will further consolidate our position as a supplier of full-service solutions within this specialist field.”
