In collaboration with American Express, Strålfors has produced a system for automatic purchasing routines. It is the first type of system to automate and integrate the ordering and invoicing processes.
An American study has shown that the average company spends two hours on each purchase, and that it costs some SEK 650 to deal with each order. There is thus an enormous potential here for economizing, particularly on purchases that are made frequently and for small amounts.
An integrated ordering- and invoicing system via the Internet and cards
”There’s now a secure system for the staff at all the Nyman & Schultz travel agencies in Sweden to purchase office supplies via the Internet by using personal purchasing cards. They can look for products, see the stock balance, and order via Strålfors’ new purchasing web that’s linked to the Movex business system,” says Staffan Redelius, the project leader at Strålfors.
The purchases are registered via the American Express system Corporate Purchasing Card. As invoices can be handled electronically, American Express pays Strålfors automatically after a maximum of five days. Nyman & Schultz, on the other hand, pays American Express once a month.
Instead of getting a separate invoice for every order, Nyman & Schultz is sent a report electronically every month with a specification of all its purchases. This affects the supplier (Strålfors) to no small extent as it is guaranteed payment within five days instead of having to wait the customary 30 days forsettlement of its bill.
”Strålfor’s expertise in electronic trading and electronic business communication has been invaluable during this pioneering work. The know-how can be applied in the majority of the companies that want to handle their purchases and invoices more efficiently,” says Thomas Brandt, Sales Manager Nordic, American Express.
The Strålfors Group’s business concept is to operate within the field of information transfer, focusing on computer-related products and services. The Group has a turnover of SEK 2.5 bn and operates in 11 countries. It has 1,550 employees, 850 of whom work in Sweden. Strålfors’ shares have been listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange since 1984.
