Stralfors improves security for e-mail marketing communications

06/11/2007

Stralfors has signed an agreement with the direct marketing industry organisation Swedma to become the first e-mail distributor on the Swedma Whitelist. The Whitelist aims to create a more secure channel for legitimate e-mail communication. Together with Swedma, Stralfors has been a driving force behind this initiative to set up a secure and reliable method for companies to communicate with their customers via e-mail. Companies that sign up to the Swedma Whitelist are committed to ensuring that all their e-mail communication to the market follows a strict code of ethics that has been formulated by Swedma in consultation with industry representatives.

E-mail traffic from companies on the Swedma Whitelist is given priority by affiliated operators who offer customers e-mail addresses. This means that there is less risk of e-mails getting caught in filters, thus increasing security and reliability. The Swedma Whitelist not only ensures that legitimate e-mails reach recipients, but it also improves the opportunities for operators to filter out unsolicited advertising.

Thomas Otterlund, business area manager at Stralfors Marketing Solutions and chairman of the project group, has devoted considerable time to developing the framework for the Swedma Whitelist. This work is an important step in improving the reliability of legitimate e-mail communication and making it possible to filter unwanted e-mails. The Swedma Whitelist will actively contribute to paving the way for companies and organisations to further increase their use of e-mail technology to communicate with their customers.

“E-mail is a quick, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to distribute market communication, and the Swedma Whitelist will now also make it more reliable,” Thomas says. “That we here at Stralfors are the first to sign up to the agreement makes me especially happy. It means that our customers can look forward to even greater accuracy in their electronic mailings to their target groups.”

As a communication channel e-mail provides great opportunities for customised and personalised direct marketing. The interactivity of this medium opens the way for a dialogue with the customer, multistage communication and measuring effectiveness in real time. Today most companies use e-mail for newsletters or to maintain regular contact with their customers. With its natural connection to the Internet many companies use the opportunities this presents to increase traffic to and sales via their website.
