Stralfors, which is owned by the Swedish mail, parcel and logistics company Posten AB, has today signed an agreement with Gzella Sp. Zo.o. relating to the acquisition of Gzella’s printing operations in Laskowice, Poland. Under the terms of the agreement, Stralfors will assume operational responsibility with effect from 30 May 2008. The printing company has just over 100 employees and annual sales corresponding to approximately SEK 50 million. The acquisition is yet another step in Stralfors’s strategic programme of growth in the European market.
Gzella Sp. Zo.o. is a privately owned limited company whose owner started business as a local butcher in the 1980s. Since then operations have developed into a conglomerate that today employs more than 1,000 people. The conglomerate includes a cooked meat factory, butcher’s shops, transport and logistics operations, filling stations, tourist facilities and a printing works. Printing activities are run as an independent business with its own organisation.
“Poland is a large and expanding market close to the heart of our own operations,” says Ulf Sköld, President of the Graphics business area at Stralfors. “Several Stralfors clients based in Scandinavia already have established or intend to establish operations in Poland. For us, this acquisition means we can develop our business by accompanying our clients as they move into a new market that has great potential.”
By establishing this bridgehead in Poland Stralfors will be reinforcing its international position. In addition to its base in Scandinavia, Stralfors also has business operations in England, France and Switzerland. Moreover, BA Graphics is a major supplier to its sister organisation, BA Information Logistics, which also stands to benefit greatly from this acquisition in its own ongoing expansion into Europe.
