A number of customers have received two copies of their invoices from the energy company E.ON Sverige. In conjunction with the transfer of E.ON’s servers to a new computer centre, a number of test files were transmitted to Stralfors as a trial run. By mistake, one of the test files generated invoices which have been despatched to E.ON customers.
Letters will be sent today to the customers concerned making clear that the customer should not pay the invoiced amount.
“We accept full responsibility for what has happened and sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused both for our client, E.ON, and for E.ON’s customers,” says Stefan Lager, Manager, BA Information Logistics in Sweden. “As far as we can see from the information available at present, it is simply a question of human error. We are therefore reviewing current routines and security procedures to determine what, if anything, can be improved in order to avoid similar mistakes in the future.”
