Ermal Devce
I started work at PostNord Stralfors at the end of October 2015, so I’m relatively new here and I’m really enjoying it. There’s a wonderful atmosphere within the company, we’re like a big family. Everyone does their best to contribute to the whole, and I think that the company’s values (reliable, available, business partner and sustainable) correspond really well with the corporate culture.
What is your role in the organisation?
I work as a Quality Engineer.
Describe your role as a Quality Engineer.
My role involves quality, the environment, safety and the work environment, but my strength is in quality. We must maintain a customer-focused approach at all times, and that’s also the basis of quality work. My work involves identifying and developing smarter solutions and work methods, as we constantly have to live up to the demands made of us in these areas. It’s important to me to work actively to identify ‘waste’ in the business and then to prevent it. This includes, for example, adjusting work processes and document management. I also support various units and departments, such as Production, in their improvement work with both knowledge and tools in the areas of quality and Lean Production. This has resulted in various activities such as governance and visualisation boards, cleaning and maintenance schedules, and also in the area of incident management.
How has your career journey been within PostNord Stralfors?
When I applied for the job at PostNord Stralfors in September 2015 I was a recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering, and the position I applied for was as a Quality Engineer at the Production facility in Ljungby. I worked in that role until February 2016, when thanks to a reorganisation I was offered a role as Quality Engineer for the whole of Sweden. So, from having worked very much in a niche area in Production, I took the step up to working on a broader, Sweden-wide level.
What do you find interesting and challenging in your job?
It’s working with the culture and that part of us where there’s a resistance to change. In my experience, work on quality only goes really well if you take everyone with you on the ‘journey’. The whole process is enjoyable, stimulating and challenging at the same time. In reality I develop and contribute tools, but we all contribute to our systematic improvement work.
What’s it like, being an employee at PostNord Stralfors?
Developmental and enjoyable! Anyone who wants to develop within the company is given that opportunity. Just show that you’re willing and that you deliver, and the company will invest in you. There are no limitations. At PostNord Stralfors you’re part of a family where everyone wants to contribute and do their best. Everyone has a chance, but you must be willing to change if you’re going to enjoy working here.
Why did you apply for a job here?
When I applied for the job I was living in Halmstad, and as I used to live in Småland I also looked for work in that region. Stralfors appeared on my list, and as I was familiar with the brand and had a good feeling about them, I fired off an application. As a newly graduated engineer, aged 23 and with an immigrant background, I didn’t really think I’d get the job, but I was wrong and here I am now.
From your perspective, what kind of employee enjoys working at PostNord Stralfors?
As an employee at PostNord Stralfors, you want the best for the company and you embrace your duties and the corporate culture whole-heartedly. You are yourself, which is a precondition for working here, and you’re not afraid of taking the initiative and pursuing your work independently. Another quality in a typical PostNord Stralfors employee is that you’re willing to change, positive and feel that our values are in tune with you as an individual.
What makes PostNord Stralfors a good employer?
The fact that I as an employee have the opportunity to develop. I’m given freedom under responsibility with clearly defined limits, and within these I can assume full responsibility for prioritisation and deliveries. There is very good leadership within PostNord Stralfors, with managers who are safe and secure in their roles.
