Sofia Nordström

My work is extremely stimulating and enjoyable. The work is challenging, as new things/technologies come along all the time, and sometimes change happens quickly. There's a really good atmosphere at our workplace, and as an employee you can be involved and make a difference.

Describe your role as B2B and B2C Pre-Sales Expert
My role is part of PostNord Stralfors' new organisation, Digital Service Center, and the role is also totally new in the company. The idea is that I should support the sales organisations in all countries in their selling process by providing salespeople with technical material and base data about our services. We will also be training the countries' sales organisations in future as required in our digital services, so that the salespeople always have the latest information to pass on to their customers. It'll be exciting to see how the role and the team develop in due course!

How has your career journey been within PostNord Stralfors?
I started work at PostNord Stralfors in April 2014. My first role was in customer support for our electronic services (which at the time were EDI, Internet bank invoice and eArchive). Working in technical support was totally new for me, but I loved it right from the word go! Apart from my regular duties, I was able to take part in several different projects. These included a Lean project, which aimed to identify problems and find smarter work methods. As I had the opportunity to develop continuously in the field of support and was happy with my duties and colleagues, I was in no hurry to move on within PostNord Stralfors.

In October 2016 I started as Sales Support for our electronic services. When I applied for the role I was really motivated to get it, as it felt like just the right role for me with my experience from support and earlier when I'd worked in sales at another company, as well as my qualification in Sales and Marketing from IHM Business School. After three months as Sales Support, our new Digital Service Center was created and I was given the role of B2B & B2C Pre-Sales Expert.

What do you find interesting and challenging in your job?
There's ALWAYS something new to learn about our digital services, and you never finish. The digital world is constantly developing and you have to keep ahead!

What I find most interesting in my work is understanding customers' needs. I've always seen myself as a problem-solver, and for our customers the big problem is often how they should communicate, with their customers, suppliers or business partners. How should they themselves be able to keep track of all the input and output channels that exist now? That's where we come in and help them with the solution. It's interesting to understand their business and what their communication partners are like, is it companies, authorities or private individuals that they're communicating with? How do they want to send/receive the information? We work with both outgoing and incoming communication to our customers, which means that we can offer them a complete omnichannel solution.

What's it like, being an employee at PostNord Stralfors?
I'm really happy here. As an employee I have tremendous opportunities for development, although nothing is served on a silver platter, you have to work for it, but if you show that you're willing and able, you have plenty of opportunities.

The ceiling is high at PostNord Stralfors and we communicate a lot with each other. Everyone's really helpful and there's always help available if you need it. We're a team that delivers together. There can be intensive periods, but you can always turn to colleagues and managers if you have too much to do, they help you to prioritise and if necessary share the load.

Why did you apply for a job here?
I used to be a salesperson at a medical technology company, but I'd become tired of my job and simply wanted change in both industry and career. I knew though friends and relatives that PostNord Stralfors was a good company with an interesting business, so I applied for the job in customer support, even though I didn't have any experience from that world. My manager at the time believed in me when I said that I can learn and will learn quickly, and gave me the opportunity to prove this by giving me a job!

From your perspective, what kind of employee enjoys working at PostNord Stralfors?
A typical PostNord Stralfors employee wants to learn new things and is curious. You're also solution-oriented and driven, and enjoy working independently but form part of different teams, with freedom under responsibility. We work in the Nordic market and have business partners in various parts of the world, so you have to like working with people from different backgrounds and have an understanding of different work cultures.

What makes PostNord Stralfors a good employer?
PostNord Stralfors' strength is that we always want to develop and be better all the time. If you as an employee want to develop, you will have the chance if you clearly show that you want to make progress within the company. We work constantly to improve our work methods and customer offering, which makes the company interesting and challenging for you as an employee. It says something about an employer when so many employees choose to remain within the Group for many years, and several generations of the same family choose to apply for jobs there. I myself am a third generation PostNord employee.

Give us three tips for success in your role as B2B and B2C Pre-Sales Expert

  1. You must be receptive to both customers and colleagues. You have two ears and one mouth, listen twice as much as you speak.
  2. You need to be interested in always learning more about our customer offering and our customers.
  3. Don't be afraid to ask – there's no such thing as a stupid question, it's by asking questions that you learn and develop.
