PostNord Strålfors acquires Edita Prima from Edita Group
The Nordic Communication solution provider, PostNord Strålfors, acquires Edita Prima Oy from Edita Group Oyj. The purchase agreement has been signed on 9 June 2023 by PostNord Strålfors Oy and Edita Group Oyj. PostNord Strålfors and Edita Prima complement each other well, and clear synergy benefits are expected to emerge from the transaction. The closing of the acquisition is subject to the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
When closed, the transaction will combine two prominent actors in the industry and strengthen service offering for customers. Both companies have considerable experience in both digital and physical customer communication services.
“PostNord Strålfors is a full-service player in the customer communication market delivering distribution and software services to the leading companies in the Nordics. With the acquisition, we can offer the Edita Prima personnel in Finland and its customers a significantly wider service offering, Nordic reach as well as the potential to realize synergies between our local operations”, says Ylva Ekborn, CEO PostNord Strålfors Group.
"Edita Prima has succeeded in developing its business as part of Edita Group in an excellent way. The company has transformed from a traditional printing house into a modern provider for printed and digital customer communications services, and its operations are growing profitably. I believe that joining a larger Nordic group further strengthens the company's capabilities to operate in the market and serve its customers even more comprehensively," says Kristiina Kujala, Interim CEO, CFO of Edita Group.

Edita Prima's net sales for the 18-month financial period from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2022 totalled EUR 67.8 million and the company currently has approximately 80 employees. The company operates in two locations in Helsinki: an office in Kalasatama and a production facility in Kuninkaantammi.
PostNord Strålfors Group operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. The company has approximately 700 employees and in 2022 its revenue was approximately SEK 2 billion. In Finland, Strålfors has production facility and office in Vantaa.
“I see PostNord Strålfors and Edita Prima as a great match, we have similar entrepreneurial spirit and customer-oriented culture. With this merger we will be able to ensure a long-term sustainable operation that will enable us to deliver great services and customer experience towards our combined customers for many years to come”, says Mika Penttilä, Managing Director, PostNord Strålfors Finland.
According to Jukka Ruuska, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Edita Group, the divestment of Edita Prima is a continuation of the earlier divestments and consistent business portfolio development of the group: " It is natural to combine the forces of these two actors operating in the Nordics. Edita Prima and PostNord Strålfors are more competitive together."
